Grand Finale of the "A Day as an HSB Lecturer" Competition

In the enthusiastic atmosphere celebrating Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th, the Hanoi School of Business and Management (HSB) organized the 'A Day as an HSB Lecturer' competition for students who are passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge. The competition is a meaningful activity aligned with the 'student-centered' educational philosophy, creating an opportunity for learners to step onto the podium and embody an 'HSB lecturer' for a special day.

Launched at the beginning of November, 'A Day as an HSB Lecturer' quickly garnered significant interest and participation from a large number of students at the Hanoi School of Business and Management. The competition's objective is not merely to identify 'potential lecturers' but also to create an environment for students to experience the role of a university lecturer, ignite their passion for research and teaching, disseminate the spirit of lifelong learning, and simultaneously cultivate pedagogical skills, systemic thinking, presentation abilities, and the capacity to inspire an audience.

Following the preliminary round, which featured numerous meticulously developed lecture ideas, the Organizing Committee selected the 10 most outstanding teams to advance to the Final Round.

Prior to their 'teaching day,' participants attended workshops led directly by HSB lecturers, who shared insights on content development, lecture design, pedagogical method selection, technology utilization, and learner interaction. Consequently, each presentation in the Final Round was not merely a simple presentation but transformed into a 'model lesson' bearing the distinct personal imprint of each contestant.

Speaking at the final round, Prof. Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi – Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the School – highly commended the proactive spirit, creativity, and courage of the contestants to step out of their comfort zones. The competition was affirmed as one of the School's meaningful activities aimed at nurturing the dream of becoming future lecturers, speakers, and trainers; simultaneously creating an open academic space where students can 'try being a teacher' to better understand the responsibilities, pressures, and yet the profound honor of the teaching profession. Many contestants shared that after the competition, they gained a deeper appreciation for their teachers' work and were more motivated to study and train diligently.

In the Final Round, acting as 'HSB lecturers,' contestants successively delivered 'mini lectures' lasting 35–45 minutes before the Judging Panel and a large cheering student audience. The lecture topics were diverse, ranging from management, business, communication, marketing, technology, and more. Each lecture was evaluated based on the accuracy, currency, and logic of its content; teaching methodology, presentation style, and problem-setting; the level of interaction with 'students'; presentation demeanor, confidence, and body language; as well as the degree of creativity in applying technology, games, and discussion scenarios. The auditorium atmosphere was consistently vibrant with applause, laughter, and enthusiastic interaction between 'lecturers' and 'students'.

Upon the conclusion of the competition, the Judging Panel diligently worked to identify the most outstanding lectures. The closing ceremony and awards presentation were solemnly held on the November 20th commemorative day, honoring the contestants who had strived and shone on the podium. This was a well-deserved recognition for their arduous preparation journey, from researching materials and outlining content to designing slides, videos, and interactive activities.

The 'A Day as an HSB Lecturer' competition has concluded, but the echoes of teaching inspiration and the spirit of knowledge dissemination continue to spread throughout the student community. HSB plans to maintain and develop this activity into an annual platform, linked to the celebrations of Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th. With the positive values it brings, the competition is not only a beautiful highlight of the academic year but also contributes to building the image of a dynamic, creative HSB, where every student has the opportunity to shine and grow through practical experience.
