HSB Enhances Cybersecurity Research and Training, Promotes Collaboration with International Experts

In the context of robust digital transformation worldwide, cybersecurity is becoming one of the critical challenges of non-traditional security. Recognizing this trend, the Hanoi School of Business and Management – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (HSB) has identified cybersecurity as one of its key research and teaching areas, while also promoting international cooperation and business connections to improve the quality of training and research.
In March 2026, HSB implemented a series of academic activities with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. C. Augusto Casas – Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (USA), and a Fulbright Program Expert in 2023. Currently, Assoc. Prof. Dr. C. Augusto Casas has also officially signed a cooperation agreement with HSB, accompanying the School in teaching and academic research activities in the future.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Casas had academic exchange sessions with HSB faculty, revolving around the topic of “Cybersecurity Governance,” focusing on analyzing cybersecurity trends in the context of non-traditional security. According to him, cyber threats are not only limited to technical factors but also related to trust, supply chains, cyber-physical systems, and dependencies within organizations. New risks such as artificial intelligence (AI) application fraud, supply chain attacks, digital identity attacks, and vulnerabilities from IoT devices are making the digital environment increasingly complex.

In parallel with research activities, HSB focuses on implementing training programs and practical workshops for various learners. For students, the workshop “Personal Cybersecurity – Protecting Your Digital Life” provided essential knowledge about risk identification, personal data protection, and information security in the digital environment.

At the postgraduate level, HSB organizes the thematic workshop “Enterprise Cybersecurity Management,” targeting graduate students and future managers. Here, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Augusto Casas shared academic perspectives combined with practical experience in cybersecurity management in organizations, clarifying security challenges in the context of digital transformation, while emphasizing important principles to improve the management capacity and protection of enterprise information systems. The workshop content helps students develop strategic thinking and decision-making skills in the field of cybersecurity at the organizational level.
Cybersecurity content is now integrated into the training programs at HSB, with modules such as cybersecurity governance, system security, cybersecurity law and policy, and encryption. Through this, learners gradually build an interdisciplinary knowledge base and the ability to apply it in practice.

In addition to international academic cooperation, HSB also strengthens connections with businesses to improve practical skills for students. In March 2026, the School had a working session with representatives of Bugasura – a technology company from India, operating in the field of software testing and cybersecurity automation. The two sides exchanged views on the possibility of cooperating in deploying AI-integrated platforms for software project management (DevOps) and testing, opening up opportunities for students to access modern technology tools and be ready to participate in the global technology market.

The series of diverse academic activities, from research exchange and student training to capacity development for postgraduate students, demonstrates HSB's clear orientation in developing interdisciplinary fields, especially non-traditional security and cybersecurity. This is not only a step to improve the quality of training but also contributes to affirming HSB's role in training high-quality human resources to meet the requirements of the digital age.
