HSB Global Scholar – Connecting the World's Educational Communities to Vietnam

The HSB Global Scholar Program is an annual initiative run by Hanoi School of Business and Management, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (HSB – VNU), aimed at connecting HSB with universities around the world through academic exchange, collaborative research, and cultural engagement. As part of the 2026 program, Dr. Juan Facundo Carcedo, an expert in international cooperation and relations from the National University of the Center of the Buenos Aires Province (UNICEN), Argentina, took part in two academic activities for HSB students on September 9 and 11, bringing international perspectives and a multicultural learning experience directly to the HSB classroom.

Two Sessions, One Journey to Discover South America

Kicking off the series of activities, on September 9, Dr. Juan Facundo Carcedo delivered a lecture to HSB students on the topic "Introduction to South America & Argentina – Culture, Society and People." Starting from foundational concepts of the Americas, Latin America, and South America, Dr. Carcedo guided students through an overview of Argentina's geography, history, and regions, before delving into the country's cultural identity, diversity, and the waves of migration that have shaped it. The classroom atmosphere grew lively as the speaker shared insights into Argentine cuisine, football, the figure of the Gaucho, literature, music, dance, and cinema, as well as everyday life — vivid cultural glimpses that helped students gain a clearer sense of a country located on the opposite side of the globe from Vietnam.

Building on that spirit, on the morning of September 11 Dr. Juan Facundo Carcedo held a workshop dedicated to HSB students, also centered on discovering South America. While the September 9 lecture focused on systematically building knowledge, the September 11 workshop was designed to strengthen direct interaction between lecturer and students: students were invited to ask questions, debate, and explore South American cultural and social perspectives together with the speaker through the lens of an experienced international researcher, rather than simply receiving information one way. Through this, students had the opportunity to sharpen their critical thinking, broaden their international outlook, and enhance their academic dialogue skills — competencies essential for students navigating today's global business and management environment.

These two back-to-back activities, held within less than a week, gave the HSB community a complete multicultural learning experience — from foundational knowledge in the classroom to open exchange and dialogue in the workshop setting — reflecting the spirit of "bringing the world's educational communities closer to Vietnam" that HSB Global Scholar strives for.

HSB Global Scholar Program: Fostering Academic Exchange and International Cooperation at HSB

HSB Global Scholar is an annual initiative of the School of Business and Management aimed at fostering meaningful academic exchange, collaborative research, and multicultural engagement between HSB and its global network of partner universities. The program seeks to attract international researchers and experts to collaborate, teach, and share their experience directly in Vietnam.

Under the program, international scholars teach directly, organize seminars and interactive workshops with HSB students, and collaborate on research projects and joint publications with HSB faculty. It is also an opportunity for these experts to contribute to curriculum development and share management and business education experience drawn from diverse educational systems around the world.

In 2026 alone, HSB Global Scholar is set to welcome a total of six international scholars from a range of countries and research fields. Alongside Dr. Juan Facundo Carcedo, several notable scholars soon to visit HSB include: Prof. Peter Augsdorfer (THI, Germany) — an expert in creativity and R&D management, radical innovation, and evolutionary management; Prof. Dimitter Ialnazov (Kyoto University, Japan) — an expert in energy transition and sustainable development in emerging economies; and Dr. Jana Krizanova (University of Gibraltar) — an expert in mindful leadership, sustainable lifestyles, and conscious consumption.

Dr. Juan Facundo Carcedo's presence at HSB on September 9 and 11 stands as a vivid example of this spirit — where the knowledge and culture of a distant South America became close and vivid right on a Vietnamese campus.
