International Academic Exchange

Learning System

Study Plan

Starting from the application stage at HSB, students are informed about the learning activities they will engage in at HSB. Although the initial proposal will often need to be adjusted, it is essential for students to actively manage their own study program. The goal is to have a list of learning activities/subjects at HSB that align with the student’s program at their home university.

ECTS Credits

ECTS credits are units of work for building your study program. They reflect the amount of work required to complete a specific learning activity (e.g., a course or seminar) and are calculated based on the total time needed to achieve the desired learning outcomes, including personal study time. As a standard European unit, ECTS credits make it easier for your studies to be recognized by your home university.

Training Organization

Each academic year consists of two main semesters and one supplementary semester. Each main semester lasts for 15–20 weeks of study and exams. The supplementary semester lasts at least 6 weeks and takes place between the two main semesters. A standard academic year is equivalent to 75 ECTS credits, divided into two semesters.

Choosing courses and other learning activities must be done after consulting with academic advisors at your home university and the HSB advisors to ensure the selected courses are suitable.

Grading System

The grading for courses includes:

Assessment Type Weight
Regular assessment 10%
Midterm assessment 30%
Final exam 60%

The grading system is specified in each course syllabus, and scores are rounded to one decimal place, then converted into letter grades and GPA as follows:
